Tokyo Cathedral

Kenzo Tange project came to completion in 1964, to replace the structure that was destroyed during the 2nd world war air raids bombing.

Not much to say from me. I definitely like to let the pictures speak by themselves.

Just want to add a little comment, but I'll do it after you have a look at the 4 pictures I chose for this post. Your impression must take precedence. (^^)

Here we are.

It’s not common for me to admire a modern architecture piece and feel so close to what I experience looking at an oeuvre from a classic Renaissance architect from the past millennia. Same kind of emotions, expressed in a different way. Tange sensei managed to bring together an occidental subject and the oriental culture and sensibility, resolving into a stunning piece of work.
