The new 20mm F2 DG DN
Yesterday I kindly received from Sigma the newly announced 20mm F2 DG Dn.
It’ll be on sale next week, but they were nice enough to let me play with it before the release.
No surprise on the design side. The beautiful shape, compact and very stylish, with the aperture ring that gives that retro feel that I really love so much (it surely brings back memories of the analog times). It’s the common trait of all the lenses of the new I series, and having already used the 45mm and the 35mm I was expecting the same high level manifacture from this new comer. And so it was.
Why I was so excited by this lens? 20mm is really very useful for landscape photography, going on the wide side but not as extreme as a super-wide like the 14mm.
The high quality of this 20mm, with very little distortion on the images, gives me very high hopes for the use in the field. I’ll be jumping on a plane pretty soon and you can’t even imagine how happy I am of reducing the size of my gear so much with the Sigma FpL and 2 I series lenses.
I bet the air company will be happy as well, and the plane will be lighter and faster thanks to me (^^).
Here are a couple of pics I took on my way back home from a shoot from the Italian fashion brand Intimissimi.
