The Concert

This Monday, the concert that Alberto, Yuki, and I have been working on for the past few months became a reality.

The idea was born at the beginning of 2020 when the covid was strong in Italy, and Alberto and I were here in Tokyo listening to the news and watching, helplessly, from afar.

Doing a charity event is not an easy thing because there is always the risk of exposing yourself to criticism. At first, we thought of making a series of prints or CDs available for sale and donating the entire proceeds to some association on the front line against the virus. But the risk of it being perceived as sly promotion was big.

That’s the reason we decided to start a collaboration of music and photography on an Internet live for the Italian Red Cross.

That was two years ago. Last Monday we were far from digital screens, on an actual stage, and in front of a beautiful live audience.

The talented Yuki Sunami produced the show in only a few months, coordinating the intricated machine that moves behind the scenes of events like this. She definitely did a great job, and the concert was sold out!

Raphael and Alberto on the stage playing Oblivion.

Raphael soloing on “Nessun Dorma”.

The improvisation on the Ponyo Theme

Yuki Sunami singing “Inochi no Uta” for the encore.

The picture on the screen at that moment it’s a scene from the place I used to go to every day during the summer holidays with my family when I was a kid, Platamona Beach in Sardinia. July the 18th in Japan is dedicated to the sea, and for me, the sea is this spot. This is where my love with the beautiful Sardinian surf started.

Thank you very much Fuchu! (^^)

Here some backstage snaps of the four of us.
