Sant’ Efisio

Today is May the 1st and in Sardinia a long religious parade takes place in Cagliari since 1657. The “Sant`Efisio” festival originated in the mid seventeenth century when a terrible plague swept across Sardinia. When the epidemic finally passed the people of Cagliari kept the promise to carry to the little town of Pula the statue of the saint every year. The 2020 pandemic won`t stop the procession. There will be no people in the street to greet the saint but this time the procession will be more meaningful than ever.

Here some pictures I took last year.
Stay home and stay safe.
