Lunissanti

It’s Holy Week now and in Sardinia there are many rites that have been going on interrupted for many many years. On Holy Monday in the medieval town of Castelsardo "Lunissanti" festival takes place. It`s one of the most evocative events in Sardinia. After two years break as consequence of the spreading of the Covid-19, this year was held again. I definitely wish I was in Sardinia now (^^)

Here some pictures of the beautiful alleys of the little medieval town resonating with the voices of the choirs of the "confraternita", and the mysterious hooded men that bring around symbols of the Passion of Christ.

I published one of these pictures for the NHK booklet talking about Sardinian language: here’s a preview

What do you think about the mood of this festival? It looks a little scary? I can assure you that that feeling goes away as soon as you hear the wonderful voices of the choir singing during the procession.
