Today was a nice day. Good company, archers running on a horse shooting targets and blooming plum blossoms. It was my first time shooting a Yabusame festival. I always avoided them before because they are very popular and that means crowd. And crowd in Japan means… BIG CROWD. It may well be so in the major festivals like the one in Kamakura, but today at Soga Bairin the event was really not that packed and the show was awesome. What impressed me the most were the archer ladies. Grace, elegance, speed, concentration, power. Add traditional 13th century japanese clothes to the mix, an horse and 3 arrows and you have a pretty awesome "matsuri".
